Come and celebrate this Saturday in the back field! Costumes are optional. No scary masks or violent costumes please. All children must be accompanied by an adult (no drop offs). Music and allergy-friendly snacks will be provided!
SA students did a fantastic job raising money for the school as part of the Harvest Run! To celebrate, the PTO is sponsoring a Fall Fest event this Friday. Students will enjoy apple cider & apple donuts, time on the playground, and special field activities! Families are welcome to join from 1:30-2:30pm and/or stay after school to help out with fall work day activities.
The 11th Annual Harvest Run was a smashing success today! Runners gathered in the Intervale on a beautiful fall day. Kids participating in the Fun Run gleefully chased the Corn through the course, and we had a strong turnout for the 5K that followed.
A special thanks to all the students who collected pledges, all those who donated, all the sponsors who made contributions, and especially, all the volunteers who made the event a success!
UPDATE: Working together, the SA community of students, staff, families, friends, and community partners raised just under $10,000 to support place-based, service-learning, and project-based adventures for SA students in and around our community!

After two years, we are excited to welcome families back to school for our annual Community Dinner & Open House! This event will take place on Thursday, September 29th from 5:30-7:00pm at SA. Families are invited to join us for a potluck dinner to connect with other members of the community. Families can also tour classrooms and talk with your child’s teacher. Please reach out to Donna Diaz, SA Administrative Assistant ([email protected]) with any questions.
Our 10th Annual Harvest Run for Sustainability is happening! However, as safety continues to be the chief concern during the pandemic, it will once again be a virtual event.
But like all years, our school community is enthusiastically invited to help raise money for the Sustainability Academy by asking friends and family to register, donate, or support your efforts, whether you participate in the run or not.
The Harvest Run for Sustainability is held each year in October. Teachers, students, family, and friends get to romp through fields and dirt roads of the Intervale to support place-based learning at the Sustainability Academy.
Not sure where to do your virtual run? No problem: We invite everyone in our greater community to pick one of our specially curated routes starting either in the Intervale (5K) or at the Sustainability Academy at 123 North Street (1K, 3K, 5K, 10K). Walk or run your preferred route any time during the week of Sunday, October 10th-Sunday, October 17th.
Post pictures and details of your run on our Facebook page!
Join us for a series of free, outdoor activities available to all SA students/families on remote learning days. Activities are organized, hosted and made possible with support from the PTO, and are led by parents and/or community partners. SA staff will not be present for these events.
Masks, temperature checks and hand-washing required at each session. Contact information will be collected for contact tracing purposes. Activities will be canceled in the case of rain or inclement weather.
Weekly activities will be posted in the SA newsletter (comes out each Friday from our Principal, Ms. Oropeza) and the school’s online calendar.
Please email SA Parent, Allegra Williams, at Allegra442 [at] gmail.com with any questions or ideas for future activities. We hope to see you at some of the events this Fall 2020!
The annual Harvest Run for Sustainability is one of our signature events, held each year in October. We invite everyone to romp through farm fields and dirt roads of the Intervale in this family-friendly event to support place-based learning at the Sustainability Academy.
One of our major fundraisers, our school community is invited to help raise money for the Sustainability Academy by asking friends and family to support your efforts, whether you participate in the run or not.
Our 9th Annual Harvest Run for Sustainability is happening, but will look a little different this year.
This year, we invite anyone in our greater community to pick one of our specially curated routes in the Intervale or around the Old North End (1 k, 3k, 5k, and 10k options available!) and walk or run this route anytime during the week of Monday, October 12th-Sunday, October 18th.
We also encourage people to note the social and/or natural history of our community and we will have a place to submit your photos and/or descriptions of what you see/hear/smell along your route. Details to come…
**Stay tuned for updates to this favorite event. We are likely evolving this to better fit COVID conditions. **
With unlimited pancakes, homemade applesauce, and delicious maple syrup, this event is a perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family, support our school community and the nation’s first sustainability-themed elementary school, and get an early start on any holiday shopping.
